How it’s calculated

The method, in plain terms.

We estimate two numbers and use the larger: coverage (about 2,500 sq ft per AP in open plan, 1,500 with cabins, 900 with heavy walls) and capacity (about 30 active devices per Wi-Fi 5 AP, 50 per Wi-Fi 6 and 60 per Wi-Fi 7).

  • Ceiling-mounted, centrally managed APs give better roaming than consumer routers.
  • Run a separate guest network.
  • Each AP needs a cabled network point — PoE keeps installation tidy.

FAQ

Wi-Fi Access Point Calculator — FAQs

Can’t find what you need? Ask us directly

How many square feet does one Wi-Fi access point cover?

Roughly 1,500–2,500 sq ft in a typical office, less with brick or concrete walls. Device count often matters more than area.

Why is my office Wi-Fi slow even with full signal?

Too many devices per access point, interference or a consumer router doing the job of several APs. More managed APs spread the load.

Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 for an office?

Wi-Fi 6 is well proven and handles busy offices well; Wi-Fi 7 adds capacity where devices support it.

Do you do Wi-Fi site surveys?

Yes — we plan coverage, install managed access points and set up staff and guest networks.
